Buoyant Bed Clarifier
Buoyant Media Clarifier Overview
The Buoyant Bed Clarifier is a unique process for hydrometallurgical plants in clarification solutions. The Buoyant Media Clarifier contains a floating bed of filter media to clarify the overflow. Overflow clarities of 20 ppm have been achieved in applications. The Buoyant Bed Clarifier can produce overflow clarities similar to the traditional filters with low capital expenditure and operating costs.
The clarifier includes a screen deck in the supernatant zone, and buoyant filter beads are located below the screen, where to operate with the flocculant to filter the solution. Level detection in the feedwell will trigger the backwash to flush the filter bed and to renew the filtration properties of the bed.
